DTR Jungle Hideaways is a nature resort right next to the Kishanpur Zone entry gate of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. Your morning safari jeep is a 2-3 minute drive away, so you skip the long pre-dawn drive and are among the first at the gate.
Kishanpur is the zone of Dudhwa best known for tiger sightings. After the safari you come back to a quiet garden resort with clean cottages, home-style food and bonfire evenings. There is no city noise here, only bird calls and, now and then, a deer alarm call from the forest edge.
Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the core of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. It sits a little higher and has better visibility than the rest of the reserve, and it records the most tiger sightings in Dudhwa. The Beldanda area and the Ring Road are well known for tiger and leopard sightings.
Jhadi Tal, the lake inside Kishanpur, draws birds and animals to its waterholes all season. Swamp deer (barasingha), spotted deer, Sarus crane and many migratory birds are regularly seen. We also arrange bird-watching sessions that do not need a safari booking.
Kishanpur is at your doorstep. Dudhwa Zone 1 (Sonaripur and Sathiana, the Rhino Area) is about an hour's drive away, and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, home to Gangetic dolphins and gharials, is about 2.5-3 hours away. Our team can plan a day for each.

Take Sitapur Road towards Lakhimpur Kheri, then turn left at Mehwagunj towards Bhira and Palia Kalan. From Bhira, take Maghai Road towards Kishanpur Gate. The resort is about 4.5 km ahead, right at the gate.
Take Pilibhit Road via Puranpur to Khuttar Crossing, turn left towards Mailani and Bhira, then left again towards Kishanpur Gate, about 4.5 km. From Delhi, reach Bareilly via NH9 (Ghaziabad, Garh Mukteswar, Moradabad, Rampur) and follow the same route.

Dudhwa Tiger Reserve is usually open to tourists from 15 November to 15 June and closes during the monsoon. November to January is the most pleasant time: days are around 20-25°C and nights drop to about 10°C, so carry warm layers for the early-morning safari. From March onwards the grass is thinner and animals gather at waterholes, which many photographers prefer.
